Bj has worked with Cheney & Company for almost 20 years, serving as art director from 1996 to 2006, freelancing for eight years and recently returning as art director. Her experience includes design for education, health, fundraising and not-for-profit. Bj’s work has received numerous awards from the Connecticut Art Directors Club, PRSA, Admissions Marketing and CASE.
Previously, Bj designed marketing and corporate communications for businesses in the fields of computer hardware and software manufacturing, information technology, insurance and banking. This included the Gartner Group, a Connecticut-based information technology advisory service, and Aetna Insurance Company.
Bj studied graphic design at Yale University, holds a master’s degree from the Basel School of Design in Basel, Switzerland, and holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from West Virginia Institute of Technology.
Bj is a member of Friends of the Farm River Estuary, the Branford Land Trust and Save the Sound. As such, she has for many years participated in the International Coastal Clean-up Day, built osprey platforms, collected water samples for research and planted trees. Bj uses her love of cycling to explore the world and to fundraise for local charities, like Closer to Free (cancer ride) and the Hole in the Wall Gang (children’s) Camp Challenge.
